DANIEL SAYS:

“One of the greatest things to ever happen to this community was the establishment of the Leeds Kollel. Every single family has shown such warmth and friendship. I can truly say I would not be where I am today without the help, support and incredible wisdom from the Leeds Kollel.”

TOMORROW’S RABBINIC LEADERS

With focused daily learning, our team of

Rabbis continue their personal development into accomplished Torah scholars.

The internal learning standard of the Kollel is very high, with the Avreichim constantly growing in their learning. Initially they learnt Meseches Sukka, followed by Beitza, continuing on to Meseches Nida, also learning Hilchos Nida. They were tested and received Semicha from Dayan Refson zt”l of Leeds and Dayan Westheim zt”l of Manchester. They have since learnt Meseches Chulin and spent time learning Hilchos Ta’aruvos. Since the start of the pandemic the Kollel have learnt Maseches Makkos and are currently learning Maseches Pesochim.

What does “Kollel” mean?
A Kollel is a group or gathering of people working together toward a common goal. Our goal is to promote Torah study through hands-on educational experiences that respects all Jews, regardless of prior knowledge or observance level.
Is the Leeds Kollel a local or national organization?

We are an independent, local, not-for-profit organization created for the Leeds  Jewish community. While there are many Kollels throughout the UK, they are each operated independently.

Who funds the Kollel programs?

Virtually all of our funding is through private donations from donors who value our work and want to become partners in our mission.

Does the Kollel cater to a particular age group or level of religious observance?

No. We offer learning opportunities for Jewish people young and old, from every level of religious observance. Participants include the entire range from totally unaffiliated to fully observant.

How much does it cost to join a Kollel class?

The Kollel is a non-membership organization. Most of our educational programs and classes are free of charge. Occasionally, we charge a nominal fee for a program to help with the costs involved in operating that particular event.
